Moments from the Rip Curl GromSearch of 2024 in Ph Moments from the Rip Curl GromSearch of 2024 in Phillip Island.

Another Rip Curl GromSearch has come and gone since 2024 but going back through old work now feels like the right time to share some moments from the ‘24 edition.

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to shoot this event for @visitbasscoast & @weareexplorers, featuring some of the best young surfers from around Australia, with Ava Holland and Mitchell Peterson taking out the titles.

Whilst some young surfers were having some breakthrough moments during the event, personally I was also having a breakthrough moment. A month earlier I had been in Indonesia shooting surfers around the islands mainly for fun but also selling the odd photo here and there. This job sounded too good to be true just coming back from photographing surfers in Indonesia and ending up in Victoria at the time of the event.

The timing seemed fortuitous from the outside but isn’t all about timing anyway? It was as if the work I had been doing over the preceding months and years without even realising it had put me in the perfect position to shoot and create content centred around the surfing events down in Phillip Island.

A gentle reminder to follow your interests and that the Bass Coast might just be Victoria’s most underrated coastline.

Feeling good amidst the mountains with friends, what more?
What a wild trip 2025 has been. These are some of What a wild trip 2025 has been. These are some of my favourite photos and moments this year, creating, growing and flowing with opportunities and challenges even when life ain’t what it seems.

Starting with the very personal journey of losing a loved one whilst trying to juggle and establish my own vision.

I had some epic jobs working for @we_are_explorers which included adaptive mountain biking in Creswick with Gerard and testing out the Dometic CFX2 series on a surf trip. As well as this I got to capture some scenic and well organised events for @visitbasscoast down in Victoria.

The adventures are always going to happen but the quality of these experiences are always shaped by the people who join me on them, special mentions to @bengturner23 @nathan.triandafillou @matewo @hoffmannjarred @lewisvanroon @amberwillcocks @margaritaperezu for saying yes and doing it.

Other highlights included working as a guide on K’Gari (Fraser) Island, running my first half marathon, skiing for the first time in 3 years for my first trip in New Zealand, learning how to free dive with @chloe.ireland and spending a day amongst the deeply intriguing world of bees with my mate @coehno

You can’t take steps without the stones, it’s all here now.

2025 got the best of me (if you couldn’t tell one of my biggest inspirations this year was @landon_mcnamara )

Looking ahead to 2026, anything is possible.
It took me two ferries and two days to get here. I It took me two ferries and two days to get here. It looks like 2ft from the beach, when it’s actually 6ft and my Italian friend @bardo_shardana makes the the islands best pizza at the end of the road.
Visual highlights of some time well spent during S Visual highlights of some time well spent during Spring in New Zealand.

With spring skiing in NZ coming to an end and the weather clearing, other side quests were calling and it’s always the unexpected and unplanned that seems the most rewarding.

From finding ourselves in the midst of Mount Aspiring National Park exploring ancient forests and getting soaked when the waterfalls path switched with the wind.

The road trip and boat trip up Milford sound, there’s definitely something colossal about it.

Encounters with New Zealand’s cheeky Kea birds trying to gnaw the rubber off our hire car.

Being captivated by the intelligence of the sheep dog display at Walter Peak.

And nature providing those fleeting moments of magic that proves the more time you spend chasing light and adventure the luckier you get.

And best of all getting to do it with some of your best mates.
This was one of those moments that makes you stand This was one of those moments that makes you stand still or run around excitedly trying to capture the light show unfolding before you.

Coming down the Crown Range in our trusty Swifty after a day of riding at Cadrona, the opportunity to stop at a few lookouts couldn’t be missed. It was the day of the AFL Grand Final, so the idea was to get down the hill and watch the game after a few quick snaps.

@nathan.triandafillou wound up in conversation so I thought I may as well grab my digital camera whilst we were waiting.

The longer we were there the better the show got and we couldn’t leave with the sun rays piercing through the clouds creating a curtain of rays above the ranges.

Thankfully Nathan’s team Collingwood didn’t make the final otherwise we would have rushed down to watch the game and missed this special moment.

The brief? Hook it up to my van and take it on a surf trip up the coast.

In short the Domestic CFX2 was our coolest companion keeping us fuelled, allowing us more time to focus on what the trip was all about - surfing.

At 13.5kg, it’s easily manueverable and we were able to set it up on the beach or next to camp thanks to our portable battery set-up.

It was ideal for mid-surf snacks and helped keep us fuelled for long stints out in the water. As a consequence there were some happy campers/surfers.

With its robust and ergonomic design, the CFX2 will be coming on many more adventures. 🌊🏄‍♂️☀️
